The grand prize membership drawing for winner's choice of a brand new Can-Am 4-wheeler or a Skidoo Tundra Sport was held June 30th. Bill Swift of Fairbanks was the lucky winner. We'd like to express our gratitude to all the new and renewing members so far this year. We haven't yet committed to a member drawing next year, but if we have one, all memberships paid after June 30 will be automatically entered for that prize.

Your membership is the foundation of the Chitina Dipnetters Association. Membership dues allowed us to send representatives to the Cordova Board of Fish meeting in December 2014 where we convinced the BoF to raise our limit, bringing into parity with the Kenai dipnet fishery. Our membership roster made them listen to us. If dipnetting at Chitina is important to you, please support us by becoming a member. It's only $25/year and we have great prizes. Due to the December 2014 Alaska Board of Fisheries (BOF) passage of the Chitina Dipnetters Association (CDA) sponsored proposal #39, the 2015 Chitina Dip Net Fishery bag limit will be increased. The new limit is 25 salmon for the head of household (permit holder) plus 10 salmon for each additional household member. This means a household of 1 can take 25, household of 2 a limit of 35, household of 3 can take 45 salmon, and so on. The total bag limit cannot include more than 1 king salmon.

The Chitina Dipnetters Association submitted five proposals for the Board of Fish's consideration at their December meeting in Cordova. The proposals address allocation of 3,000 kings for the personal use fishery, allowing the opening date to be one week earlier, aligning the Chitina fishery bag limits with the Kenai bag limits, limiting the commercial practice of "rolling up kings" and removing the 50k fish limit placed on personal use fishery if the commercial fishery is closed for 13 or more consecutive days.

CDA will have a booth at the Fairbanks Outdoor Show, April 25-27. Members willing to help man the booth for a couple hours will be most appreciated. If you can help procure prizes for a raffle please let us know. We plan to send two Board members to the December Board of Fisheries meeting in Cordova to present our proposals (come to the annual meeting for details), which will take a bit of money. We will be selling CDA t-shirts, hoodies and memberships at the Outdoor Show, the annual meeting and online at our website.
